Adult Brain Cancer Specialty Care Center

Research

Physician-researchers at the Adult Brain Cancer Specialty Care Center are pioneering efforts to develop novel strategies for earlier diagnosis, more effective treatments, and prevention methods for cancers of the nervous system.

The Adult Brain Cancer Specialty Care Center actively participates in multiple clinical trial consortiums, including the American Brain Tumor Consortium, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, and the newly formed international Ependymoma Clinical Trials Consortium, with faculty serving in leadership positions in all of these groups.

Current areas of research include:

  • Molecularly targeted drug therapies
  • Viral vector based gene therapies
  • Glioma vaccines and immunotherapy
  • Anti-angiogenic therapies
  • Molecular mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs
  • Imaging tumor response to therapy using high field strength MRI
