Physician-researchers at the Sarcoma Specialty Care Center and University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) are pioneering efforts to develop novel strategies for earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas.
Investigators are currently studying:
The Sarcoma Specialty Care Center actively participates in multiple clinical trial consortiums, including the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG), the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS), and the Sarcoma Alliance for Research through Collaboration (SARC), with faculty serving in leadership positions in many of these groups.
UPMC Cancer Centers and UPCI physician-researchers are part of the University of Pittsburgh’s Clinical Translational Research Science Institute, which is supported by an award from the National Institute of Health to help translate science to clinical application.
