Welcome to UPMC Cancer Centers, one of the largest integrated community networks of cancer physicians and health care specialists in the country. UPMC Cancer Centers is committed to improving the understanding of cancer, to developing new lifesaving approaches for cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment and to delivering state-of-the-art cancer care to patients throughout the tri-state region as well as those coming from other regions of the United States and beyond.
Working in tandem with the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI), which comprises the academic and research activities for cancer at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, UPMC Cancer Centers represents more than 2,100 physicians, scientists, administrative staff and other health care professionals working together to help people with cancer. They represent a variety of specialties including surgical oncology, medial oncology, radiation oncology, otolaryngology, neuro-oncology, palliative care, behavioral medicine and gynecologic oncology.
At the center of UPMC Cancer Centers network is the Hillman Cancer Center. This five-story facility on the UPMC Shadyside campus serves as the primary location for all UPMC cancer-related services, housing the key components of a full-service cancer center including treatment facilities, an education center and a center for the prevention and early detection of cancer. The Hillman Cancer Center also accommodates a large portion of our laboratory research activities, allowing clinicians and scientists to work closely together to create the synergy that brings the best science from the lab to the patient.
