Cervical Cancer Awareness Month Resources

The following cancer information resources should be used for informational and educational purposes only. All specific medical questions about your health needs should be presented to your own health care provider.

  • Magee Gynecologic Cancer Program of UPMC Cancer Centers
    Highlights of this site include comprehensive information about cervical cancer, as well as cancer care services and resources available to patients at UPMC Cancer Centers.
  • UPMC Cancer Centers: Cervical Cancer
    A comprehensive starting point for information on the prevention, screening, detection, diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer. Includes link to the Magee Gynecologic Cancer Program as well as numerous links to other cervical cancer resources.
  • National Cancer Institute: Cervical Cancer
    The National Cancer Institute's Cancer.gov site provides information for patients, the public and health care professionals about cervical cancer treatment, screening, prevention, supportive care, genetics and clinical trials.
  • MEDLINE Plus: Cervical Cancer
    Consumer health information resource provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Includes general information, links to pictures/diagrams, diagnosis, symptoms, prevention and screening for cervical cancer.
  • National Cervical Cancer Coalition
    An independent grass roots coalition of health care providers, pathologists, cytotechnologists, women's groups, patients, technology, research and treatment companies and associations work to help assure the Pap smear will continue as a national screening test for cervical cancer with access available for all women.
  • Gynecologic Cancer Foundation
    Designed for patients and clinical investigators, this site includes published results of clinical trials in chemotherapy, vaccines and gene therapy, a database of research abstracts and links to other sources.
  • Womens Cancer Network
    Sponsored in part by the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, this site provides useful information about the cancers that affect women and the physicians who are specialists at treating them.

  • OncoChat Cervical Cancer Support Group
    Hosted by the Association of Cancer Online Resources (ACOR), this is a real-time online global support community for cancer survivors, families and friends.
  • Kids Konnected
    Provides friendship, education, understanding and support to children who have a parent with cancer.

Further information

  • UPMC Cancer Centers Information and Referral Service
    A cancer information service for the public, staffed by UPMC Cancer Centers oncology nurses and social workers, is available at 412-647-2811, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This service answers questions you may have about cancer, provides general cancer information, treatment options and helps individuals to schedule appointments/obtain referrals with UPMC Cancer Centers doctors.
  • UPMC Cancer Centers Patient/Family Education Center
    Provides informational materials to patients with cancer and their families, friends and caregivers. The Center has an extensive library of up-to-date cancer-related information that can be used to supplement information provided by your health care team.
