Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month Resources

The following cancer information resources should be used for informational and educational purposes only. All specific medical questions about your health needs should be presented to your own health care provider.

  • Magee Gynecologic Cancer Program of UPMC Cancer Centers
    Highlights of this site include comprehensive information about ovarian cancer, as well as cancer care services and resources available to patients at UPMC Cancer Centers.
  • UPMC Cancer Centers: Ovarian Cancer
    A comprehensive starting point for information on the prevention, screening, detection, diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer. Includes link to the Magee Gynecologic Cancer Program, as well as numerous links to other ovarian cancer resources.
  • National Cancer Institute: Ovarian Cancer
    The National Cancer Institute's site provides information for patients, the public, and health care professionals about ovarian cancer treatment, screening, prevention, supportive care, genetics and clinical trials.
  • MEDLINE Plus: Ovarian Cancer
    Consumer health information resource provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Includes general information, links to pictures/diagrams, diagnosis, symptoms, prevention and screening for ovarian cancer.
  • National Ovarian Cancer Coalition
    Designed for patients and clinical investigators, it includes published results of clinical trials in chemotherapy, vaccines, and gene therapy, a database of research abstracts and a bulletin board for FAQs.

  • OncoChat Ovarian Cancer Support Group
    Hosted by the Association of Cancer Online Resources (ACOR), this is a real-time online global support community for cancer survivors, families and friends.
  • Eyes on the Prize
    Provides information, shared experiences, resources and support from the survivors' perspective.
  • Gilda's Club
    Support group formed in honor of the late comedienne Gilda Radner who succumbed to ovarian cancer.
  • Kids Konnected
    Provides friendship, education, understanding and support to children who have a parent with cancer.

  • UPMC Cancer Centers Information and Referral Service
    A cancer information service for the public, staffed by UPMC Cancer Centers oncology nurses and social workers, is available at 412-647-2811, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. This service answers questions you may have about cancer, provides general cancer information, treatment options and helps individuals to schedule appointments/obtain referrals with UPMC Cancer Centers doctors.
  • UPMC Cancer Centers Patient/Family Education Center
    Provides informational materials to patients with cancer and their families, friends and caregivers. The Center has an extensive library of up-to-date cancer-related information that can be used to supplement information provided by your health care team.
