UPMC Cancer Centers to Co-Host Melanoma and Skin Cancer Patient and Caregiver Symposium

AIM at Melanoma LogoUPMC Cancer Centers is co-hosting an educational patient and caregiver symposium with Aim at Melanoma, a nonprofit organization that supports melanoma research and promotes melanoma prevention and education. The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 in Herberman Conference Center at UPMC Cancer Pavilion, UPMC Shadyside from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

UPMC Cancer Centers physicians, John M. Kirkwood, MD, director, Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program, University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI), and Howard D. Edington, MD, surgical director, Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program, UPCI, will present two of three topics, including: “Surgery: Less or More” and “Where Are We Now and Where Are We Going?” The third topic, “Is Melanoma in Your Genes?”, will be presented by Sancy Leachman, MD, PhD, director, Melanoma and Cutaneous Oncology Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah.
