David L. Bartlett, MD

Dr. Bartlett

Dr. Bartlett is the Bernard Fisher Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is also the Co-Leader for both Liver Cancer and Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI), as well as the Director of Multidisciplinary Clinics, and the Director of the David D. Koch Regional Perfusion Cancer Therapy Center. He received his MD at Northwestern University Medical School. His experience includes surgical training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, clinical research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, basic science research at the University of Pennsylvania, a surgical oncology training fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and he served as a senior investigator at the National Cancer Institute. While Dr. Bartlett’s clinical interests include all aspects of surgical oncology, he specializes in the management of hepatobiliary malignancies. An active surgeon, he performs both conventional treatment and chemoperfusion, and his clinical research is focused on the development of surgical procedures for the regional treatment of malignant neoplasms, including a simplified technique for isolated liver perfusion for patients with unresectable metastatic tumors in the liver, as well as hyperthermic peritoneal perfusion for peritoneal carcinomatosis. He is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, and the American Society of Gene Therapy.

David A. Geller, MD, FACS

David A. Geller, MD, FACS Dr. Geller is the Richard L. Simmons Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Co-Director of the UPMC Liver Cancer Center. As a hepatobiliary Surgical Oncologist, his clinical interests center on the evaluation and management of patients with liver cancers. He has pioneered laparoscopic liver resections, and has performed more than 150 of these cases. Most of these patients are discharged home on the second post-operative day with 4-5 bandaid-sized incisions. He also specializes in performing laparoscopic radiofrequency ablations of liver tumors. Dr. Geller is a member of many professional and scientific societies including the Society of Surgical Oncology, Society of University Surgeons, and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

Dr. Geller has published 150 scientific papers and chapters. He is often a guest lecturer speaking on the management of liver tumors and has presented at more than 220 meetings or seminars. He has active research grants from the NIH, and is also the Principal Investigator on Industry-sponsored clinical trials for liver cancer.
