Welcome to the Lung and Esophageal Cancer Program of UPMC Cancer Centers. As co-directors of the Program, we hope that this site provides you with basic information about about lung and esophageal cancers and introduces you to the personnel and activities of the Program.
The Lung and Esophageal Cancer Program strives to provide the highest quality of clinical care for our patients. The Program also focuses on understanding the biology of lung cancer and the development of multidisciplinary approaches to improving therapy. The Program combines clinical and laboratory expertise to offer patients the best available treatments for this highly prevalent cancer. With special expertise in medical oncology, thoracic surgery, radiation therapy, pulmonary medicine, lung pathology and drug development, the Program provides a comprehensive program aimed at prevention, early diagnosis and effective treatment of all forms of lung cancer.
The Program maintains one of the nation's leading programs for thorascopic surgery -- surgery using small incisions and remote-controlled operating instruments -- and conducts clinical research to develop and evaluate promising new treatments.
We hope that the following pages will be a useful resource for those interested in learning about lung and esophageal cancers and the Program. We welcome your input and ideas, as well as your support.
