Hillman Cancer Center - Driving Directions

From points north

Take I-279 south to exit 8B (PA-28 North / East Street). Follow PA-28 north to the 40th Street Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue on 40th Street to Liberty Avenue. Turn left onto Liberty Avenue and continue to Centre Avenue. Turn right onto Centre. Just past the light at Cypress on the right is the Hillman Cancer Center driveway.

From the Allegheny Valley (Armstrong County, Fox Chapel)

Take Route 28 south to the Highland Park Bridge. Be in the left lane as you cross the bridge and follow the Washington Boulevard ramp. As you exit the ramp, shift to the right lane. Just before the traffic light, go right, onto Washington Boulevard. Travel straight through on Washington Boulevard (about two miles). At the fourth traffic light, Washington Boulevard crosses Penn Avenue and becomes Fifth Avenue. Continue on Fifth Avenue and at the light at South Aiken, turn right onto South Aiken. Stay on South Aiken to the third light (Centre Avenue) and turn left onto Centre. Just past the light at Cypress on the right is the Hillman Cancer Center driveway.

From points south (South Hills)

Take Route 51 north or Route 19 north through the Liberty Tunnel and cross the Liberty Bridge. Take the Bigelow Boulevard exit. At the third traffic light on Bigelow, take the left fork of the road but stay in the right lane. This puts you on Craig Street. At the second traffic light, turn left onto Centre Avenue. Continue on past the Morewood intersection and look for the Hillman Cancer Center Driveway on the left. If you reach the light at Cypress, you’ve gone too far down Centre Avenue.

From points east

Take westbound I-376 to exit 7 (Edgewood / Swissvale). At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto South Braddock Avenue. Go approximately two miles and turn left onto Penn Avenue. At the intersection of Penn and Fifth Avenues, turn left onto Fifth Avenue heading west. Continue on Fifth Avenue until you reach South Aiken Avenue. Turn right onto South Aiken and continue until the third traffic light (Centre Avenue), then turn left onto Centre Avenue. Just past the light at Cypress on the right is the Hillman Cancer Center driveway.

From points west (From the Airport)

Follow signs to Pittsburgh. Take PA-60 East / I-79 South. Continue on PA-60/US-22 East/US-30 East - go 3.8 miles and follow signs to Pittsburgh that take you on I-279 North (6.1 miles). Follow construction detours to merge onto I-376 East toward Monroeville. Follow I-376 (0.3 miles) to exit 2A, Forbes Avenue / Oakland. Continue on Forbes Avenue through the University of Pittsburgh campus (Oakland section of Pittsburgh) and turn left onto Craig Street (just after the Carnegie Museum of Art). From Craig, turn right onto Fifth Avenue and continue on East on Fifth Avenue to South Aiken Avenue. At that light, turn left and follow Aiken until the third traffic light (Centre Avenue), then turn left onto Centre. Continue slowly past the light at Cypress and turn right into the Hillman Cancer Center driveway.
