  Hillman Cancer Center is the treatment and research flagship of the UPMC Cancer Centers network. This 350,000 square-foot comprehensive cancer center brings together pre-eminent clinical care for patients and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute's academic and research programs. Two pavilions comprise the center - one houses research laboratories, the other outpatient care services.
  
  Hillman Cancer Center, part of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, is the treatment and research flagship of the UPMC Cancer Centers network. This 350,000 square-foot comprehensive cancer center brings together pre-eminent clinical care for patients and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute's academic and research programs. Two pavilions comprise the center - one houses research laboratories, the other outpatient care services.
  
  The William M. Cooper Pavilion houses the comprehensive clinical services of the Hillman Cancer Center, designed to help patients and families easily access all the specialized services they need.
  
  Services available at Hillman Cancer Center include treatment, diagnosis, prevention and early detection, nutrition, education, genetic counseling, and pain, rehabilitation, and behavioral medicine support.
  
  In the Gumberg Family Library, an education and information center, patients and their families have access to a wide array of books, pamphlets, and multimedia instructional resources.
  
  The clinical space is divided into suites where physicians, collaborative practice nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical research coordinators, physician assistants, fellows, dietitians, psychologists, and social workers work closely together as a team to deliver high quality care to those with cancer.
  
  To detect and monitor treatment for a variety of cancers, a wide range of imaging technologies are available at Hillman Cancer Center, including positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and nuclear medicine.
  
  The Hillman Cancer Center is also home to the nationally and internationally renowned research activities of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute.
  
  By bringing patient care activities and research endeavors under one roof, Hillman Cancer Center maximizes the opportunities to translate promising research findings in the laboratory into effective new cancer therapies.

Home to the state-of-the-art clinical services of UPMC Cancer Centers and the nationally and internationally recognized research of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, Hillman Cancer Center provides specialized diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and care for patients and their families.

Hillman Cancer Center of UPMC Cancer Centers

Hillman Cancer Center is home to internationally regarded surgical, medical and radiation oncology specialists, who perform treatment procedures unavailable elsewhere in the region. The Center also has the region's most advanced imaging technologies to detect cancer and monitor treatment. Hillman Cancer Center is also home to a component of the National Institutes of Health-funded General Clinical Research Center, which also provides support for the conduct of clinical trials.

Beyond clinical care, Hillman Cancer Center also has a full range of services to help patients better cope with cancer. Patients and their families have access to a wide array of educational, counseling, nutritional and genetic resources.

The 2002 opening of Hillman Cancer Center was made possible through the generosity of Henry L. Hillman and the Hillman Foundations, as well as support from the Shadyside Hospital Foundation, individuals, foundations, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the National Cancer Institute.

* Most gynecologic oncology services are provided at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC. However, some gynecologic oncology services are also offered at the Hillman Cancer Center.
