UPMC Cancer Centers Presents "A Reason to Hope: New Advances in the Surgical and Medical Treatment of Colorectal Cancer"
PITTSBURGH, March 2 – Nearly 150,000 people this year will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the United States. What most people don't know is that the disease is 90 percent curable if caught early. Colorectal cancer can be prevented by routine screenings.
To provide more information about colorectal cancer, UPMC Cancer Centers will sponsor "A Reason to Hope: New Advances in the Surgical and Medical Treatment of Colorectal Cancer," at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 16, in the Cooper Conference Center Classroom, ground floor of the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave., Shadyside.
Linda M. Farkas, MD, assistant professor of surgery, and Ramesh K. Ramanathan, MD, associate professor of medicine and director of the GI Cancer Program, both from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, will present the lecture.
The talk is one in a series of cancer lectures sponsored by UPMC Cancer Centers for patients, their families and the public.
The presentation is free and open to the public. Registration is required and space is limited. Free parking will be available across from the Hillman Cancer Center in the UPMC Shadyside Medical Center garage on Centre Avenue. For more information and to register, please call (412) 623-3651.
