Cancer Prevention and Detection Highlight of Barnes & Noble Event featuring Senator Arlen Specter

PITTSBURGH, March 20, 2008 – On Thursday, March 27, 2008, University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and UPMC Cancer Cancers will participate in a cancer awareness event at Barnes & Noble Booksellers at South Hills Village in Bethel Park/Upper St. Clair. This day-long event emphasizes the importance of education, prevention, and early detection, and will feature a variety of cancer-related seminars on topics including super foods and cancer, the importance of self breast exam, and cancer and the environment. The conclusion of the event will be an appearance at 7:30 p.m. by Senator Arlen Specter who will be releasing his new book Never Give In which chronicles his battle over cancer. Sen. Specter will be available to speak with audience members and to sign books.
