Colorectal Surgeon James P. Celebrezze Jr., MD, Joins UPMC


Pittsburgh, PA, July 1, 2009 – UPMC today announced that colorectal surgeon James P. Celebrezze Jr., MD, has joined UPMC as of July 1. Formerly, he was affiliated with Allegheny General Hospital of the West Penn Allegheny Health System.

"I am looking forward to working with the many dedicated health professionals at UPMC," Dr. Celebrezze said. "This opportunity will allow me to care for a greater number of patients in western Pennsylvania."

Dr. Celebrezze performs surgeries for colon and rectal cancer using minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy. He performs advanced surgery for inflammatory bowel diseases including diverticulitis and other conditions of the colon, sphincter preservation surgery for rectal cancer, anorectal surgeries such as stapled hemorrhoidectomy, and surgery for anal rectal fistula. Dr. Celebrezze also performs colonoscopies and endoscopic treatment of polyps.

Dr. Celebrezze will practice at UPMC Passavant – Cranberry and his office will be located at 200 Northpointe Circle, Suite 104, Seven Fields, Pa.

Dr. Celebrezze received his medical training at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Akron City Hospital and a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
