2009 Fundraising Gala to Support Cancer Research, Prevention and Patient Assistance

Pittsburgh, PA, September 28, 2009 – On October 6, 2009 at 5:30, Hillman Cancer Center will present "The Power of Partnership: A Future Without Cancer," a donor recognition and fundraising gala, at the new Monroeville Convention Center in Monroeville. More than 600 of the region's most prominent leaders and longtime supporters of Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Cancer Centers, and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute will be recognized for their philanthropic generosity and community leadership on behalf of these organizations.

The gala is held to benefit Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Cancer Centers, and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Proceeds from this year's gala will support research on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment, and provide financial assistance for patients.

Gala leadership includes Gala Chairs Susan and Steve McGalla, and Honorary Chairs Elsie and Henry Hillman, and Cathy and Sy Holzer. Entertainment includes:Michael Keaton, Pittsburgh native, actor, and gala emcee, Kristen Chenoweth, Broadway singer ("Wicked") and Emmy award-winning television actress ("Pushing Daisies"), and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
