Nutrition Services

Nutrition Services at UPMC Cancer Centers has registered dietitians available Monday through Friday. Dietitians have extensive knowledge of diet and healthy eating, oral nutritional supplementation, vitamins, minerals and enteral nutritional therpy/tube feedings.

The services that UPMC dietitians provide include:

• calculation of calorie, protein and fluid needs
• analysis of current diet (actual intake versus optimal intake)
• information on specialized diets such as vegetarian, macrobiotic, high-protein, etc.
• accurate information on vitamins, minerals and oral nutritional supplementation
• detailed diet education to help maintain and enhance nutritional needs during treatments
• education for patients and family members on healthy nutrition practice after treatment.

Depending on your specific needs, our dietitians can provide a nutrition consultation via the phone or mail, or you may schedule an appointment with a dietitian. This service is free of charge.
