The radiation oncology residency is a 4-year training program (PGY 2-5). Residents must have completed one year of post-graduate training in medicine, surgery, or a transitional program, prior to beginning radiation oncology training.
During the 48 months of the program, at least 36 will be spent in the full-time clinical oncology rotations outlined in the curriculum, including two months of Medical Oncology. The remaining 12 months will be comprised of Physics (1 month), optional non-oncology electives (e.g. radiology, pathology; up to 2 months), and a 9 month research rotation.
The Director is responsible for all aspects of resident training and will arrange the appropriate rotations. The director is available to residents to help with individual or collective problems and represent the residents at periodic staff meetings. The director will coordinate conferences, visiting professorships, core curriculum, and multidisciplinary teaching activities.
The will also evaluate residents’ and faculty’s performance, meeting with both to outline problems and solutions, in a continuous effort to improve the quality of the residency training program.
The Associate Program Director will assist the Director in the performance of all duties outlined above, especially related to the clinical curriculum and clinical rotations.
The Residency Program Coordinator will oversee all the clerical and administrative aspects of the program, including compliance with RRC requirements, generation of resident logs, attendance sheets, adherence to policies and procedures, as well as cooperate in the oversight of curriculum organization and maintenance.
