Physician Biography: Dr. Linda Farkas

Surgical Oncology

Dr. Farkas is a Board Certified General and Colorectal Surgeon in the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She received her medical degree from the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois and is currently serving as the Assistant Professor of Surgery in both General Surgery and Obstetrics in Gynecology, at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine and Magee Women's Hospital, respectively. She completed her General Surgery and Colorectal Training at University of Illinois, Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Farkas is an active member in many professional and scientific societies including The Association for Academic Surgery, The American Board of Colorectal Surgeons, The Pittsburgh Surgical Society, The Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and is also a fellow in both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons. She has various publications including articles, abstracts and book chapters. She is a Surgical Oncology Attending for the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and she also tutors sessions with third-year medical students. Her current research interests comprise of fecal incontinence, colonic motility, and hereditary colorectal cancer. Dr. Farkas has also been involved in numerous presentations throughout the state, research projects on her particular areas of interest, and has donated her services at local hospitals and medical centers.
