Surgical Oncology
Dr. Gilbert (web site) is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and is he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada with specialty certificates in General and Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Gilbert's areas of interest include thoracic oncology (including lung and esophageal cancer), lung transplantation, benign esophageal disorders, and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Gilbert graduated with honors from the McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Canada in 1996. He then completed a residency in general surgery at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada. He was subsequently selected by the University of Pittsburgh to complete his training as a UPMC cardiothoracic surgeon, where he received subspecialization training in lung transplantation and minially invasive thoracic surgery.
