Medical Oncology
Dr. Argiris specializes in the treatment of head and neck cancer, and also lung cancer. A dedicated physician who is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, his research efforts include the development of novel therapies for cancers of the chest, head and neck. Dr. Argiris has published more than 55 articles in medical journals, and he also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the International Journal of Cancer Research. He is a member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Head and Neck and Thoracic Core Committees.
Dr. Argiris received his medical degree from Athens Medical School in Greece, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Yale University in New Haven, CT. In 2000, he received a Young Investigator Scholar Award for Clinical/Translational Research by the American Association for Cancer Research. Dr. Argiris joined UPMC in 2005 from the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, where he was an assistant professor and a noted researcher at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center.
