Physician Biography: Dr. Rodney J. Landreneau

Surgical Oncology

Dr. Rodney J. Landreneau is a professor in the Division of Thoracic Surgery. He focuses primarily on minimally invasive cardiothoracic and esophageal surgery, and surgical oncology. Dr. Landreneau is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and is affiliated with numerous professional organizations including the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Landreneau has authored more than 200 scientific abstracts, journal articles and book chapters.

A native of New Orleans, Dr. Landreneau received his medical degree from the Louisiana State University Medical School, followed by general surgical training at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His previous academic appointments include posts with the Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and the University of Missouri. Prior to joining UPMC Cancer Centers, Dr. Landreneau served as Director of the Allegheny Center for Lung and Thoracic Diseases and the Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgical Program at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
