Surgical Oncology
Dr. Joseph L. Kelley specializes in gynecologic cancers and breast cancers, and leads the Magee Gynecologic Cancer Program of UPMC Cancer Centers. He earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1985. His residency was completed at Magee-Womens Hospital, followed by a Rutledge Fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Kelley is also a noted researcher who studies new treatments for gynecologic and breast malignancies. He serves as a Principal Investigator (PI) on a number of studies investigating DNA repair, pharmacokinetics (the study of drug effects on tumors), and sentinel node technology (the study of specific lymph nodes which track cancer spread). He also serves as a PI in the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), a national group of researchers.
