Stem Cell Transplantation Program

Patient Support

Patients who receive a stem cell or bone marrow transplant at UPMC Cancer Centers are encouraged to interact with each other and remain in contact with members of the transplant team after their therapy.

UPMC currently offers a stem cell transplantation education/support group that meets regularly at UPMC Shadyside. Our support groups database also lists all active cancer-related support groups at UPMC locations in western Pennsylvania.

The SCT Program also holds the Bone Marrow Transplant Reunion Picnic every year in September. The event, which typically brings together more than 100 transplant recipients and their families, gives participants an opportunity to interact with one another and celebrate their survival.
