Laparoscopic Surgery
A laparoscope is a thin, lighted tube attached to a video camera which allows surgeons to view inside the body without having to open the abdomen. Laparoscopic surgery is done using small "buttonhole" incisions, leading to less discomfort, less risk of complications, and quicker recovery for the patient.
Laparoscopic options exist for number of cancer surgeries offered by the Department of Surgical Oncology, including operations on the pancreas, colon, and adrenal glands. More information on each is available on the Division's website.
