Surgical Oncology Program

UPMC Cancer Centers’ surgical oncology program specializes in the treatment of colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, hepatobiliary cancer, endocrine tumors, and soft tissue sarcoma.

Our surgeons have particular expertise in a number of highly specialized technologies, including minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat cancer. In many cases, we have helped to develop or refine these cutting-edge methods, including:

  • chemoperfusion for tumors isolated in the arm or leg or tumors that have advanced into the peritoneal cavity
  • concentrated regional chemotherapy infusion for liver metastases
  • laparoscopic colon resection
  • laparoscopic adrenalectomy
  • laparoscopic pancreatectomy
  • laparoscopic splenectomy
  • laparoscopic liver surgery
  • sphincter-sparing surgery for low cancers
