Patients may receive care as both an inpatient and an outpatient, depending on individual diagnoses and treatment plans. However, most treatments are given as outpatient procedures.
All UPMC Cancer Centers locations provide outpatient services. Outpatient clinics across the network provide initial evaluations, second opinions, consultations, treatments, transfusions, special procedures and follow-up care. Patients are able to receive biologic therapies, chemotherapies, radiation therapies, bone marrow and stem cell transplantations and experimental drug treatments at convenient locations close to home.
In some cases, a patient may need to receive treatment as an inpatient, whereby he or she needs to remain at a UPMC location for a period of time. Inpatient care is conveniently available at most UPMC hospital-affiliated locations, including UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Montefiore, UPMC Shadyside, Magee-Womens Hospital, UPMC Horizon, UPMC McKeesport and UPMC Passavant.
UPMC Cancer Centers' many locations increase patient access to world-renowned care, while delivering the latest advances in prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment.
