Welcome to the Online Volunteer Orientation

The orientation is to be completed after your interview and prior to starting your volunteer assignment.
You will be required to print certain documents to verify that you have completed this process. If you do not have access to a printer, computers and printers are available in the Gumberg Family Library (8:30am - 4:00pm) located in the Hillman Cancer Center, ground floor.

Please follow the steps below to complete the on-line process:

1. Review the Volunteer Orientation Presentation
2. Review the Volunteer Handbook and HIPAA Manual
3. Print, complete and return the following documents to the Volunteer & Community Services office (by appointment only)
   • Self-Learning Quiz (use Volunteer Handbook and HIPAA Manual for reference)
   • Checklist
   • Orientation Evaluation

Additional Training

1. Volunteers who will have direct patient contact: Review the Patient and Family Training Presentation
2. Volunteers who will be in a laboratory: Click on this link: http://www.ehs.pitt.edu/assets/docs/Training2010.pdf to choose a Chemical Hygiene/Formaldehyde Awareness Training session. Once you confirm the date, please email Denise DiTommaso at ditommasoda@upmc.edu to register. The training takes place in Benedum Hall (in Oakland), 3700 O'Hara Street, Kresge Auditorium, 11th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15261.
